the online store...

... at unicycle.co.nz accepts bank tranfers. I am trying very hard to resist the urge to buy one.

Here is how to play Owl City's Fireflies, relative to a capo on the 3rd fret, so that barrophobes can join in the fun:
Verse: G C F
Chorus: F Am G / F C Em F / F C F G Am / F C G (but D 1st and 3rd times)

nice wheels

Today I went for a walk and ended up spending an hour or two watching the trial event of the world unicycle champs. If you've been seeing a bunch of unicycles around Wellington recently, it's because there are a bunch of unicycles around Wellington. What a great city to live in!

The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson is played as follows. Slashes for some reason mark out sets of four bars.
Verse: F Bb Dm C
Chorus: Bb C F Dm / Bb Bbm
Last Chorus: Bb C F Dm / Bb Bbm Dm C / Bb Bbm Dm A / Bb Bbm F

january songs

I went to Liam's 21st last night. I ended up spending an hour or so talking to his 13 year old cousin, Jared. We talked about music, coke-and-rum, illegal file sharing, and the Euclidean proof that there are infinitely many primes. He told me I should be a math teacher. He has twice as many facebook friends as me.

The album is in an interesting state: three songs have drums, bass, and a passable guitar part, two or three more have a flawed drum and bass part that I will have to re-record, and the rest have not been recorded at all. This is a lot of work.

Chelsea linked me to this interesting exposition about hell and what it actually means when you read it (or don't read it) in the bible. It is worth contemplating just what role the notion of hell plays in the gospel, and indeed what it is anyway?

Here are the chords to Daniel Bedingfield's "I Can't Read You". He sings it in E. I can just reach the high notes when I play it in B. Crazy stuff, man. For some reason, slashes mark out sets of 2 bars.

Verse: E A B E / E A B E / C#m A A B / C#m
Channel: F#m A / E / F#m A / C D
Chorus: E / B A / E / B A

a few things

Fossilized are having a concert soon. I jumped the gun in making a Facebook page for it, because we're not finalized on a time or venue. But it's happening. Some good songs in there too.

I just found a cool website called Poetoj por la Paco (Poets for Peace) which has a bunch of poetry in Esperanto (mostly translated from other languages, by the looks of it). I particularly enjoyed a poem called Lacigxo (Weariness), but you probably don't care. It's only poetry, right?

Google Chrome is finally out for the Mac.
